Melissa Reed

Biography

Melissa Reed is an Associate Clinical Professor in Music Therapy at NazarethÌýUniversity and the manager of the on-campus Lipson Music Therapy Clinic. Reed also serves as the on- and off-campus clinical coordinator.ÌýShe has worked at NazarethÌýUniversityÌýsince 2007, starting as adjunct faculty in music education and becoming a full time faculty member in music therapy in 2016. Melissa is currently the advisor for AMTAS-Naz. In 2021 Melissa co-founded the InterProfessional Animal-assisted Wellness (IPAW) Collaborative. Melissa and her dog Rosie are a registered pet therapy team with Pet Partners.

Prior to becoming a member of the NazarethÌýUniversity faculty, Melissa spent 15 years working as a board-certified music therapist and music teacher in the Rochester area. Melissa has worked extensively with children with diverse needs in the music therapy and music education settings and is a sought after clinician on this topic. She has presented for music professionals on the national, regional, and state level.

Melissa Reed received a Master of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy and Music Education from Íø±¬ÃÅ. In 2010, Melissa was awarded the Outstanding Music Educator Award in the field of Classroom Music by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.ÌýÌý
