Commuting 101

Commuters are an important part of the community here at Nazareth. We strive to make it easy to stay connected to everything going on at Naz while also providing information, resources, and support that promote your success.

24-Hour Computer Lab

There are two 24-hour labs available for use where you can print an essay or work on an assignment without distractions. Smyth 142 and Clock Tower Commons computer lab. Additionally, all academic computer labs are available for commuter students during building hours.ÌýMore computer lab info »

An M&T Bank ATM is located in the lower level of the Shults Center.

Clubs and Intramurals & Recreation

Commuter & Transfer Assistants (CTAs)

Commuter & Transfer Assistants (CTAs)Ìýoffer guidance and support to commuter students, particularly first-year and second-year commuters, and transfer by engaging these populations in campus events, activities, programs, and services. CTAs serve as a liaison between commuter and transfer students and administration, advocating for the interests and needs of these students. In addition, CTAs ensure that the Commuter & Transfer Lounge is a functional and welcoming space for all commuter students to use.

Location:ÌýUpper floor of Shults CenterÌý

Amenities:ÌýComfortable seating, computers, a TV, and more.

Kitchen:ÌýA full kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven, Keurig, and refrigerator is available in the Alice Foley Room, next to the Commuter Lounge.

Dining Options

The dining services websiteÌýhas detailsÌýaboutÌý, places to eat (Dining Choices), food options (includingÌý), dining hours, and more.

If you don't choose a commuter meal plan, you can use cash or credit to pay for your meal.

Emergency and Weather Closings

NazAlertÌýis Nazareth's mass emergency notification system and is used simultaneously notify you of an emergency on campus, the nature of the situation, and precautionary actions to take. NazAlert is an opt-out system. Your Nazareth email address and primary cell phone number (currently on file) have been automatically added to the system.

Fitness Options

Game Room

The Nest, located in the Lourdes basement, is open to you with your ID and features pool tables, foosball, video games, and more.

Health & Counseling Services

Commuters can use theÌýhealth and counseling servicesÌýavailable on campus. Medical and mental health visits are included in college fees. Lab work, other testing, and medication prescriptions will be covered through your health insurance.

Lockers

To secure a locker, go to the Information Desk in the Shults Center.

Motorist Assistance

Campus SafetyÌýoffers jump starts, lock out assistance, escorts in dark areas/late hours, and assistance in contacting a towing service/auto club.Ìý

Reserved Room

There is a reserved room on the lower level of the Shults Center that can be used as a lactation room or private room to check insulin or take care of other medical needs.Ìý

Study Spaces

Besides theÌýlibrary, other good study spots include the Pool Overlook, Commuter Lounge, Reading Lounge, and the overlook by the racquetball courts in the Shults Center.

Parking & Transportation

Buses:ÌýSeveral RTS bus routes travel to Naz.Ìý

Gas stations:ÌýThere are several gas stations in the village of Pittsford and on Monroe Avenue.Ìý

Parking/permits:ÌýAll vehicles on campus need aÌýparking pass. Register your car, find out where to park, and more.

Transportation help:ÌýCampus SafetyÌýcan jump start your car, help if you lock your keys in your car, or provide an escort.

Undergraduate Association (UA)

The UAÌýis the student government at Naz. The UA provides funds, information, and other resources to encourage student involvement and allow students to pursue their own interests. Every full-time, fee-paying, undergraduate student is a member of the UA and can take advantage of clubs/organizations, events, and services offered by the student government.Ìý

Oak Tree Food Pantry

Nazareth students, in collaboration with multiple departments on campus, maintain aÌýfood pantryÌýon campus to serve the Nazareth community.ÌýYou can come to the food pantry once a week, and take any seven items at no cost!Ìý
